It is re-branded by Acorn as the Brooks lift because you are getting it from us for less than half the cost if you went directly to them. It is really no different from buying Heinz beans in a Tesco-labelled tin for a lot less.

How do we do this? And why do Acorn let us?

National stairlift companies traditionally have huge overheads, big commission
sales forces, press adverts, TV marketing etc, and their price structure reflects this.

We are totally different, and pass the savings direct to you in 2 ways;

Firstly, we do not employ commission-based salespeople.

Secondly, our profits are lower, because we do not PAY for a listing in
Google’s search results. Instead because of our twelve years’ history and our
envied reputation, Google gives us a page 1 listing.

Acorn’s owner and now CEO, John Jakes has publicly declared that he wishes, and deservedly so through his remarkable efforts, to be the biggest stairlift company in the world. They realise that there are many ‘thrifty’ shoppers like you who need a supplier like Castle Comfort. Acorn therefore, need our ‘trade’ business, and to get it, they offer us their best prices, fitting service and back up to marry up with our enormous order book. We could place this business with any one of several other lift producers, but we favour this Yorkshire-based business, that began in an entrepreneur’s garage all those years ago. The owner of Acorn astutely acquired the right to use the legendary ‘Brooks’ brand by bringing back to life, a few years ago, this dormant bankrupt company name. Then, in 2008 Acorn bought Bison Bede – a major curved lift producer. Acorn will not stop there, they have exported globally, more lifts than any other British maker, and will soon, in numbers, overtake Bruno, the giant US conglomerate. Acorn lifts are found installed in most countries – and on every continent, and Castle Comfort’s emerging strength in Spain is already causing the industry there to lower its prices.

The slim-line ‘Brooks’ stairlift with its diagnostic display and DC power (battery driven) stairlift is the most reliable around. It is, to repeat – exactly the same as an Acorn 120, apart from one minor aesthetic detail. There is a slight chassis colour variation -grey for Acorn and nice ‘golden beige’ for Brooks. It is made by Acorn, fitted by them, and looked after by them.

We take your order on the telephone, arrange for the measurement to be checked – and it will then be factory installed within a day or two. The job takes less than one hour and please note that the lift track fits to the stairs never the wall. Remote controls are included.

As with all lift suppliers, we take a deposit. We favour a plastic card. Cash payment and posting cheques is messy and causes delays. The balance is payable by the same method on completion, so your card issuer protects you also.
